This is one of East Africa's best safari destinations. More underdeveloped then Kenya, there are vast herds of game found both in the National Parks and out on the Conservation areas. The plains of the Serengeti are the site of the annual wildebeest migration often seen in documentaries and wildlife specials. Safari here never disappoints! Mission needs: Here, as in much of Africa, the situation is desperate. Every sort of assistance is needed. Although much work is being done it just never seems to be enough. A small bit of assistance goes a long way and can really make a difference in a lot of peoples lives.

| ZAMBIA: CHIMFUNSHI WILDLIFE ORPHANAGE |
The Chimfunshi Wildlife Orphanage in central Zambia is the largest chimpanzee sanctuary in the world and is a non-profit refuge that cares for a wide variety of sick, wounded or unwanted animals -- but the primary residents are approximately 80 orphaned chimpanzees. Founded in 1983 by David and Sheila Siddle, a British couple who operate a cattle ranch near the copperbelt town of Chingola, the Chimfunshi Wildlife Orphanage has saved dozens of chimpanzees from certain death. The Siddles bestow love and care upon the traumatized apes -- many of whom have been confiscated from poachers, rescued from dilapidated zoos and circuses, or repatriated from as far away as Russia and Haiti -- and gradually introduce them to the extended family at Chimfunshi. Five social groups inhabit the free-range enclosures that span 1,100 acres at the orphanage, and the Siddles' success rate is astounding: in fact, 19 chimpanzees have been born at Chimfunshi since 1991. Chimfunshi was named to the United Nations Environment Programme's Global 500 Roll of Honour for the Year 2000, and recently received a special commendation from the Nedbank / Mail & Guardian Green Trust Awards. The Siddles also earned the Jane Goodall Award in 1995.

Day 01: Arrive Arusha Upon your arrival and after clearing customs, you will be met by our staff and be transferred to the Moivaro Lodge. This is one of the better bed and breakfast lodges in Arusha. Although not completely accessible it is the best we can do in the area. Your room will be on the ground floor and any of the small steps will have ramps.
Day 02: Arusha National Park This park is full of game and is a great introduction to Africa. It is only a short drive from the lodge so your first day will not be too exhausting. However you will see a wide variety of animals and habitats. I have always felt that this is one of the most underrated parks in East Africa.
Day 03/04: Tarangire National Park Tarangire NP is noted for two things: Birds and elephants! Sometimes there are up to 300 elephants in one herd! Lots of other animals. Some say that it rivals the Serengeti for numbers and variety. The lodge here has two modern accessible rooms. Some of the walks are a little steep but should not be a problem.
Day 05: Lake Manyara The Lake Manyara Serena also has disabled friendly rooms that have been redone recently. I was there in Dec and they had two with plans of making two more. The staff is experienced with wheelchairs. The lake itself boasts good animal populations especially giraffe. If the algae is right in the lake there will be tens of thousands of flamingos!
Day 06: Ndutu Ndutu is at the southern end of the Serengeti. It is the best place for the migration in Feb. This is one of the reasons that we must book early as the lodge fills fast and we need our choice of rooms. This one is not as accessible as the others but we will manage! 1.2 million wildebeests are out the front door!
Day 07: Serengeti Serengeti Sopa is considered accessible. The ramps are a bit steep but the staff has experience and are always available. We come up here to see other animals such as the hippos.
Day 08-09: Serengeti Grumeti Luxury Permanent Tented Camp is one of the best in East Africa. It is semi-accessible but well worth the effort.
Day 10: Ngorongoro Crater We have saved the best for last! Ngorongoro Crater is one of the great wonders of Africa. Picture the Grand Canyon with a flat bottom full of animals. Great game viewing as well as tremendous scenery.
Day 11: Arusha Return to Arusha for night flight home.
*Prices subject to government taxes/levies or prices beyond our control. Prices and programs are subject to change without notice. All prices quoted in US dollars.

This area is teeming with game and awaits our discovery. Every expedition is different and one truly does not know what is around the next turn. | Kenya: Classic Safari |
Kenya is world famous for safari. Here you will find the game herds that you have seen images of all of your life. You will also encounter people who live a completely different lifestyle such as the Masai who are herders. They live with their cattle in complete harmony with nature. A lesson for us all! Mission Needs: There is much need in Kenya for mission work. Schools need everything, churches are overtaxed, and clinics are out of basic supplies. The AIDs epidemic has created tens of thousands of orphans.
