You can't get much better than the Hawaiian islandof Maui, with its sunny western coast, lined with gorgeous white-sand beaches and its warm ocean waters teeming with humpback whales. Most visitors to Maui land at the main airport in Kahului, on the northern coast of the island.  From Kahului, it is 5 miles east to Paia and another 45 miles to Hana on the eastern tip of the island. Upcountry is 15 miles south, and the summit of Haleakala is another 20 miles along the same road. Heading west, it is 25 miles to Lahaina and another 4 miles to Kaanapali.
