Living in Southern California in the middle of winter, I thought to myself, "where can we go for the 2018 New Year weekend that offers adventure, great sightseeing and is not too far away?" We have been to Mexico, Hawaii, and have packed up the car and driven to Napa, Sequoia and Yosemite. I LOVE them all, but we were looking for something a little different. Yellowstone National Park came to mind, but one does not think about Yellowstone for a vacation in the dead of winter. Or, do they? I did a little research and found that even though Yellowstone was covered in snow, and it was COLD (below zero), it was a magical winter wonderland in the freezing, snowy months.

In 2009, following months of often-grim Swine Flu headlines and massive hotel cancellations, Mexico’s resorts are getting some positive media attention thanks to Playgrounds of the World, and the sports and entertainment industries. Recently, former Dallas Cowboys’ stars Drew Pearson and Everson Walls, current Cowboys’ wide receiver Isaiah Stanback and former Philadelphia Eagles receiver Vince Papale (the subject of the 2006 film "Invincible,") signed autographs and chatted with guests at the Gran Caribe Real in Cancun. The Football Legends Retreat, as the event was billed, was the brainchild of Playgrounds of the World and Fernando Garcia, the general director of Real Resorts, which owns the two Cancun properties. "Organizing and hosting the weekend with these fabulous sports heroes was yet another way for us to show that Cancun is open for fun, and it is a safe destination," he said. The players not only mingled with fans but met with Garcia; Gregorio Sanchez Martinez, the mayor of Benito Juarez; Enrique Zarate, the minister of tourism for Cancun; and Julian Balbuena, the director of Best Day Tours, to talk about the significance of Cancun hosting major events.
Playgrounds of the World coordinated and escorted a press trip throughout Cancun and the Riviera Maya with international and local journalists who distributed their articles in many relevant publications, secured the famous Cowboy athletes for a meet-and-greet, photo/autograph signing at Real Resorts, produced video marketing materials and delivered them to worldwide Travel Agents and Meeting Planners.

Tucked away in the jungles of the Riviera Maya, aqua marine waters and Mangrove rivers border a very special resort - Hacienda Tres Rios! My crew (and great friends Pete Rodriguez, Itay Hod and Robbert van Bloemendaal) and I visited the property and a ton of local activities.

LANZAROTE: When we did our press trip to The Canary Islands (off the coast of West Africa), the island of Lanzarote stood out as simply magical! It is known for its year-round warm weather, beaches and amazing volcanic landscape (including volcanic vineyards). We coordinated and escorted a 15 day press trip to all of the Canary Islands with 15 journalists, a camera crew and several photographers. Articles, photos and videos were distributed by all of the journalists, worldwide.

This was my first trip to this ancient wonderland, an 11 day sojourn to a country where the old and new are woven together, as ancient Pyramids dot the horizon of a vast, dusty desert, and ultra-modern hotels sit at their side.
